1961 mercury 700 outboard merc mark 70 hp Motor Vintage Tower Of Power Hot Rod.
Here’s a complete parts motor that’s been in storage after being removed.
Supposedly the engine was running but the lower unit gearbox had issues.
Look at the last pic. The tightening ring was loose and I pulled out the prop shaft a couple inches. There is a chip on the bottom left of the large threaded housing.
Otherwise this engine is complete with carburetors, starter, distributor, coils, linkages and needed components.
The stainless cowl and air cleaner cover plate are in good condition, definitely can be polished up. The little badge is missing.
The stainless trim or moulding is in good condition with a few minor dinks but no major gouges or scratches.
The clamp bolts are stuck, the tilt is very tight.
It needs some oil!!
I sprayed some diesel to hopefully lube it up.
The engine does not turn over. I removed the spark plugs and sprayed diesel inside. I’m not sure if it is the starter locked up or sitting for years. I’ll work on it once the top is removed and I have better access.
