Description

"First Word" is a limited edition of 250 cel set ups from Walt Disney's full-length feature film Bambi. It is a selected limited edition, hand painted re-creation of original artwork created especially for Walt Disney Company employees.
The artists of the Walt Disney Studios Ink & Paint Department have re-created the artwork from Bambi using traditional ink and paint techniques. The original drawings were transferred to polyester cels by a special six step xerographic process. The cels were enhanced with hand inked lines, then each cel in the edition was hand painted with Disney approved acrylic colors.
The background scene for this cel has been faithfully reproduced based on a digital print from the original film on premium glossy photo paper using an Epson 4880 printer.
This re-created cel set up is composed of original artwork from Sequence 2.2, Scene 6 of Bambi animated by Frank Thomas and Art Elliott. With help from Thumper, Bambi utters his first word, "bird".
This limited edition was produced in 2011 and is comprised of a general edition of 250, numbered 1/250 to 250/250.
