Description
Fr. 1225h ,000 1900 Gold Certificate PMG Gem New 64. Very few of these non-redeemable ,000 Gold Certificates will ever reach this grade level, as most all were heavily water stained as a result of being literally tossed out a window of the Washington D.C. Post Office during a 1935 fire at that facility. This note appears to have not been present that day, as it is perfectly clean without a hint of its impromptu flight into the street OR BROWNING OF THE PAPER due to the smoke. I have no understanding as to why this note lacks a 65 or a 66 grade with a EPQ designation, as the original embossing of the seal and serial numbers are plainly evident through the third-party holder. Punch cancelled as always.
