We have owned this Fine Art Print - and stored it flat - since we originally purchased it in the early 1970’s!
Walt Disney realized soon after the release & success of Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs that his fans craved original artwork and character merchandise created with the images of his popular subjects. In 1938, a contract between Courvoisier Galleries & Disney was signed to market painted celluloids or “cels” as they are now more commonly called.
World War II interrupted this marketing of Disney artwork, but it regained momentum at the end of the war. Cecil Munsey’s 1974 book “DISNEYANA” chronicles this resurgence as Disney entered into another agreement in 1946 with the Fine Art Publishers, The New York Graphic Society, to create full color Lithographic Prints from the feature-length animated Disney films Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Bami. These beautiful Lithographs came in four image sizes of; 10”x12”, 15”x18”, 20”x24” and an even larger size of 24”x30”.
Starting in 1947, The New York Graphic Society produced a series of four lithograph prints: Snow White And Her Companions “Good Friends, All!” Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs “Wash Up For Dinner” Bambi And His Mother “Bambi Meets His Forrest Friends” and Bambi And Thumper “Forest Secrets Told To Bambi” each were marked: New York Graphic Society, Fine Art Publishers Published with the cooperation of Walt Disney Productions, Calif. We are showing you three that we have displayed and enjoyed for over 45 years! Our Snow White and Seven Dwarfs “Good Friends, All” Lithograph is the largest 24” x 30” version that was sold in 1947. The “Bambi Meets His Forrest Friends” and the Snow White “Wash Up For Dinner” are the 20” x 24” versions.
