Description
Very rare original Dodge Brothers rear wheel outer hub and threaded hubcap grease cover assembly for wood spoked artillery wheels. The hub is made of heavy 1/8" thick cast iron painted blue, the hubcap is cast and polished aluminum. The Dodge Brothers started building cars in 1914 in Detroit. The company was purchased by Walter P. Chrysler in 1928 and is still around today. Online research indicates this assembly was used from 1914 to 1918 on the rear only, the floating axle was retained in the square hub opening. The hubcap is a unique design with a small diameter thread to work with this specific design. I do not know exact year, model, or application for this example. The 8 holed iron hub is 7 1/4" in diameter, 2 3/4" high, and 1 11/16" threads. Very good used condition, no damage, painted medium blue, minor surface rust on back. The cast aluminum hubcap is 3" in diameter by 1 11/16" high, 1 5/8" threads. Also very good used condition with no damage, some discoloration, would benefit from a good cleaning and polishing. The face with the Dodge Brothers "DB" logo emblem insignia nameplate is very good. Dusty inside, no cracks or deformation, threads look good. Very hard to find, great for your collection, use as is on a driver, or easily restored. U.S. buyers will pay .10 Priority shipping, International shipping cost will vary based on location.
