Description
Very rare original large Hupmobile threaded hubcap grease cover for spoked artillery wheels. This is the "Spitoon" style cap made of pressed and machined polished aluminum with red painted infill. The Hupmobile was built from 1908 to 1940 in Cleveland, OH and Detroit MI by the Hupp Motor Car Corp. Online research indicates this type of cap was used from 1929 to 1931 but I do not know exact year, model, or application for this example. 4 3/4" wide by 4" high, 2 7/16" threads. Fair used condition with dents, bends, scratches, wrench marks and distortion. The entire cap has a rough surface texture and appears to have been media blasted. The face with the Hupmobile "H" insignia emblem logo nameplate is still sharp and clear but all paint is gone. Dirty inside with light surface corrosion, threads may be useable but need work. Due to their large size and depth this type of cap was a major curb target, their low survival rate make them extremely hard to find today in any condition. Great for your collection or could be restored with effort. U.S. buyers will pay .75 for Priority shipping, International shipping cost will vary based on location. NO RESERVE.
