Original SANDY MOTOR PRODUCTS Screw-on Hubcap Grease Fitting Teens 20s Model T

Description

Rare original aftermarket Sandy Motor Products threaded hubcap grease cover with zerk grease fitting for spoked artillery wheels. Made of cast and machined and natural finish aluminum with a threaded brass insert for the separate grease fitting. The Alemite and Stewart Warner Companies developed a grease fitting lubrication system in 1916 for machinery and automobiles and later bought the Zerk fitting patents which indicates this was most likely made in the 1919 to 1924 period but I do not know exact year, model, or application for this example. 2 5/16" wide by 2 1/4" high, 2 1/16" fine threads. The overall shape and thread size indicate this was most likely intended for use on the Model T Ford car of which millions were made in this time period. Very good used condition with no damage and normal exterior wear which a good polishing would erase. Clean inside, no cracks or deformation, threads look good.
